Cost: $695 per participant for each week (breakfast and lunch included)
STARTALK scholarships can cover up to 100% of the cost. Scholarship application included in registration form below. Scholarships are available for 15 participants only.
Limited travel expenses are available through our STARTALK grant


This is an invitational program that is designed for teachers who attended Occidental College’s STARTALK workshop in 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013, completed Occidental College’s Arabic Language Teaching Certificate, or equivalent course work.  Participants will revise their curricula and instructional materials in light of the Common Core Standards and 21st Century Skills Map, using backward design with real-world objectives that are age- and stage-appropriate; focusing on culture and content from the core curriculum; including the three modes of communication; providing opportunities for cultural and linguistic comparisons and real-world language use beyond the classroom; and teaching unit segments employing pedagogies that reflect research and best practice.
